Opal and Sage: New Creative Business Q&A

  • September 26, 2018

We chat to Daniela about her new company Opal and Sage.

Tell us a little about the journey for your business so far, leading up to launching your name and Social media?

While taking a road trip through the South Island late last year, I purchased an Opalite which is a manmade crystal with unicorn-like hues, I felt immediately inspired. From that moment on I knew I will be creating something very soon. Shortly after that the brand name popped into my head and has been stuck with me ever since. My passion for crystals grew, they are truly magical. Everyone needs at least one in their home, but it never stops at one. As I know for myself as soon as I had one I wanted more! You can quickly become a crystal addict. Opal and Sage has been almost a year in the making, I really thought about it before I launched the brand. I chose to go for a soft launch approach as starting a new brand can be a little bit daunting. I have had amazing support from my partner, he really believes in what I do. I know that I wanted to create something that I was passionate about and something of my very own. Where I can create with no limits. Opal and Sage allows me to do that.

Where do you find inspiration? What drives your passion for Opal and Sage?

Doing anything creative usually inspires me whether that is spending time in the kitchen, garden or redecorating the house, but most of the time inspiration finds me, it comes and goes in waves. The main thing is you can’t force inspiration. We can’t be inspired every day, so I had to learn to except that and be patient with myself. I love that I have created a meaningful gift for people to enjoy and have in their homes.

What is your favourite room in your home, and why?

That is a hard one, I would have to say the bedroom with our new super king size bed as its where I can get an amazing rest after a long day.

Where can we find your products?

Just to name a few, Caro with Love in Mangawhai, Maple and Wild in Hawera and of course Created Homewares in Upper Hutt were one of my very first stockist and they have been an absolute delight to work with. You can find Opal and Sage mainly in homeware stores and florist around New Zealand.

What is next for Opal + Sage, will you be expanding the range?

Yes! In fact, I have already started expanding the range with more crystals with the newest being stunning Peacock Ore that is great for uplifting, positivity and joy and the brand-new White Sage – Luxe smudging kit which will be available from October. I am always working on adding to the range so watch this space!Opal and Sage.
