Making a Mood Board – super easy samples

  • August 22, 2018

Moodboard inspiration via Rebecca Jansma

We work predominantly online with clients via our e-design service, making suggestions via a visual mood-board, and a private Pinterest board. The beauty of the service is that we can work with clients all over the country, via email and social media, and they can get fast, professional advice on their renovation or new build projects.

Many people ask if it is enough to simply look at a mood board and products online, but that is only part of the process.  We actively encourage clients to head into showrooms, and stores, and check out the products first hand, and gather sample, swatches and items to create a physical moodboard.  We also have a few go-to suppliers who offer samples via an online service, which is amazing for time poor clients – and we often order swatches and samples on their behalf, super easy for us as they are delivered directly to the client at no cost or a small delivery charge.

Gathering samples together is an important part of the process, to check them against each other, and ensure the final decision is based on a physical viewing, rather than viewing online. Below are 3 of our favourite services that we use on a regular basis at Roomie HQ

FLOORING XTRA – Sample Box

Styling by The Design Chaser for Flooring Xtra

Brand new from Flooring Xtra, this service does have a small delivery fee, but it is priceless if you are deliberating over flooring finishes, or just gathering your ideas together. They put together a bespoke box with your 5 chosen samples with both hard flooring and carpet choices available, as well as underlay options and their latest Look-book and interior guides.

DULUX COLOUR SWATCHES

Working online with colour can be frustrating, as colour is often skewed by monitor settings, especially neutrals and whites. Which is why we always recommend that our clients view physical colour swatches before making a final decision. This is especially true for larger projects such as exterior house painting.  Dulux offer a quick and easy solution via their Colour Services Department. Choose four colours and they send them direct via courier within 48 hours – no more messy test pots or tiny colour chips, brilliant.

Martha’s Fabrics

When you head into Martha’s showroom in Newmarket, it is all consuming with the incredible collection of pattern and colour and texture. They also offer an online sample service, perfect to making that final decision on colour, especially when working to compliment a paint or flooring colour.
