The days of rummaging through opshops and garage sales to find that perfect mid-century vase, or vintage bedside table are quickly diminishing. With the onset of more and more homewares entering the disposable realm – think kmart and the warehouse – secondhand goods are now usually poor quality and in a state of disrepair. Seeking out that perfect vintage score can be time-consuming and frustrating.
There are some people who just have a knack for finding treasures, dusting them off, and styling them just right so we see them for what they are, not lost amongst a box of trash.
Searching for vintage pieces online has become a whole lot easier than trawling the dusty corridors of trademe too, where pieces can often be misrepresented, leading you on a wild goose chase in the search for the holy grail of retro.
Online stores are popping up – some permanent, some transient (think: online pop up) and all have lovely, eclectic vintage homewares catering for every budget.
