So, we bought a new house, and its a wee bit bigger than our last one, and the bathroom is fully tiled. Which means that ain’t changing. Luckily (phew) the tiles are reasonably acceptable subway tiles (and some square ones for interest) in a shade of almost white, but ever so slightly peach. Ekk! The walls are currently a cool blue, which definitely does not help matters, along with lots of glass and stainless accessories, glass shelves being a pet hate. So it isn’t all bad, most of these things are redeemable/rectified fairly easily. We are giving the room fresh new colour – going a little darker, in Dulux Lyttelton, which is a warm mid grey, and is pretty close to the grout colour, giving it some context, and toning down those peachy tones in the tiles.
Next, a little warmth with a new oak cabinet and mirror to replace the freestanding vanity (which equals zero storage, another pet hate). The glass shelves are outta here, and replaced with some lovely custom copper bracket/ply ones from the Mood Store. Lighting is another substandard situation, so the current glary halogen downlight (in stainless, blah) is gone and replaced with an exposed bulb ceramic wall light, with crown dipped dolly lamp. Yay.
Plants, of course, current obsession is a massive Boston fern, which we hope will survive. Art work in the bathroom is a total yes please, and of course we need to state the obvious with this vintage soap advertising poster. The addition of some graphic striped towels from the ever amazing Aura, and some pared back accessories.
Done and done. In a few weeks. Stay tuned on Instagram!
