Ekk, summer is a changeling this year, from lovely summer nights, to this seriously humid Feb weather which is wreaking havoc with sleep. With night time survival on our minds, we are advocating a dedicated sort out of sleeping spaces, starting with the most important topic: Bedding.
While linen has been trending hard for a few years, we are still huge fans of crisp, cool cotton. For added luxury we go with 400 count Egyptian cotton, which whips moisture away with longer thread than regular cotton, and stands up to the wear and tear of washing machines, giving you are more robust lifespan. Egyptian cotton, like linen, softens with each wash, and we always line dry in the sunshine which is an everyday luxury – jumping into sunshine dried sheets. Yum! For the dedicated, ironing sheets with linen spray keeps sheets fresh longer, but for the less inclined, Father Rabbit’s Room and Sheet spray is a quick fix.
Switching up your bedding each season invigorates your space visually too, and choosing pure white cotton sheets, then layering with a light cotton duvet cover (we love this botanical print from Logan and Mason’s latest range!) and ditching the woollen blankets. Sticking with a soft and light colour palette to exude serenity and calm, but keeping in mind texture, to add visual dimension.
Switching out your duvet inner to a summer weight, or ditching it altogether for a linen throw, which creates some heaviness, minus the stifling heat of a winter weight duvet, and keeping this folded at the end of the bed means you can pop it over as the temperature drops overnight, if it does!
