This is something that has been a slow burner at Roomie HQ – We began working with our lovely client Candice over a year ago, when she engaged us to complete the lighting design on her new build in Pukehohe.
Site unseen, we completed the lighting design from the architects plans, and the brief that Candice gave us: which was to work with the architectural details of the home, and source local and bespoke lighting fixtures which were appropriate for the home and the tasks at hand.
Due to the feature raking ceiling, downlights were predominately avoided in all but utility areas. Uplights were installed to highlight the ceiling and provide that all important glare free reflected light, while pendants provide general and task lights. Low level lights, perfect for providing a pathway through the home, are dotted along hallways and continue down the central staircase.
Feature lights were chosen in a varied selection of materials, including Copper 45 pendants from David Moreland for the kitchen, and Grey acoustic Felt Frankie Pendant from Design Tree in the master bedroom.
With a successful lighting design in hand, Candice also engaged us to work with her on the interior finishing of the home, creating Roomie Design Kits for each room, to help visualise the final result while building took place. This also helped integrate a beautiful collection of mid-century furniture which she had been storing for years.
