As promised, we are continuing out breakdown of the bedside table – getting it sorted for a cosy and clutter free winter.
Combining this with our April focus on lighting – our favourites from the Freedom Furniture AW14 – Freedom is company we have been watching with interest, it has moved in leaps and bounds in the past few years, we are loving the ontrend and modern homeware offerings. In recent months they have set up an must follow Instagram account with cool comps and industry insights.
So back to the topic at hand: Choosing the perfect bedside lamp. Form and function, as always, are the usual suspects, and determining how and why you have a lamp are the key to getting it right.
For readers, either a desk lamp – with adjustable, direct light can be a first choice, but if you are needing a soft ambient light as well, then a traditional table lamp and shade can be smart solution. Ensuring that when sitting up in bed, the bottom of the lamp shade reaches eye level, with the light shining on your lap, not your eyes.
Consider the scale of the room, and the bedside table – a large room will require a substantial bedside lamp, whereas in a smaller room this may overwhelm the space.
If you are building or or undergoing a renovation, then pendant lamps or wall mounted lights may be an option. At Roomie we can help with product choice and positioning to help you get it right the first time.
All lamps are available instore at Freedom, or you can view online at http://www.freedomfurniture.co.nz/
